Since almost everyone that reads this has asked about "that girl Frank's wife is setting you up with", I shall now give the lowdown to my peeps. (Did I just say that.)
Tuesday, her phone number was given to me. On Wednsday, as atypical of myself, I found ways to avoid calling. "After this movie, I give her a call." After the movie, I was hungry. "When I'm done eating, I'll call." When the food was done..."Oh, damn...it's late. Guess I'll just have to call tomorrow."
To explain the waffling I was doing here, you must remember, that I haven't played this game in six or seven years. I really didn't play this game when Rebecca and I got together. It started with me being interested in her. Her saying she just wanted to be friends, me deciding that I was cool with that after awhile, then shortly there after, Rebecca declaring to me that she decided that we should date. Five years later we break up, a little under two and I'm at this point. I'm not really the most confident guy in the world either, though my bravado might lead you to think different.
Thursday, with nothing really to do all night, the opportunity was ripe.
So I found ways to delay it.
"After this song, I'll call." An hour long album later, I decide I should goof off on the internet for awhile. Which does include World of Warcraft. After that, I say to myself once again "After this song I'll call."
So, after listening to that song four or five times,(it was a good song! "Weight of the World" by Tarkio...not that you probably have ever heard of it.) I finally walked it off, sucked it up and dialed the number.
Her name is Valerie. I knew this before, it was on the Post-It note that had her number on it. It wasn't like I went in with nothing. "Hey dude, is this the chick I'm suppose to call?" But not revealing it until now, that's called drama! (I'm done being a literature nerd now.)
We talked for an hour or so, about your general, I've never talked to you topics. What we do for a job, what we do for fun, our families(which is very simular...which led to an odd comment from her..."I don't mean anything by this, but you and I should never breed"). What TV shows we like, or have liked in the past. Things like that.
The plan now is to set up a double date with Frank and Jennifer, as to have more people around that we both know, as to keep the awkwardness down of the whole thing.
She seems very nice, and has a good sense of humour(from what I can tell in an hour telephone conversation). It should be fun. Though we'll have to see how she responds to sass. That's a big thing.
So far, it looks like the date will be two weekends from now. We shall see what that brings.
You nosey people. There is the lowdown.

Rob!
I'm so excited. I think I'm more excited than anyone else. Your descriptives of the conversation were fun to read. See.. you friends aren't nosy they just care about you.. okay, maybe they are just nosy. I think Valerie can dish and reflect sass with the best of them; I wouldn't want to duel her in a "sash" tournament. Remember fine folks turn left and live.
Smiles,
Jennifer
